Sunday Worship

Sunday Worship

We commune at both of our services, and all who are baptized are welcome to commune, including children.  Grape juice is provided as well as wine.  There is a nursery area provided which has speakers so that parents can continue to hear the service.  Our church is handicap accessible, we have a lift to our basement area, and hearing devices are provided for use during the services.

Church Front with Crosses

There are many ways for you to serve on Sunday mornings, including as a Worship Coordinator, Assisting Minister, Communion Assistant, Usher, Reader, or Acolyte.  Perhaps you would like to assist with Altar Care or the Coffee Hour. Position descriptions for these jobs are in the office. Please pick one up, and call the church office at (907) 452-3425 if you would like to volunteer!

Welcoming Statement

risenlordWe at Fairbanks Lutheran Church believe, as Saint Paul has written, that “there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; all are one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28).

As a community of the people of God, we affirm our commitment to openly welcome and value every person regardless of race, national or ethnic origin, age, physical condition, mental or emotional capacity, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, economic situation, and those who suffer from addictions.

We affirm that we are all unique individuals, created by God, in need of God’s forgiveness, and richly blessed by God’s love and mercy.

All persons named and unnamed above are welcome within the membership of our congregation upon making the same affirmation of faith that all other members make. All are encouraged to share equally in the worship, fellowship, leadership, and the general life of this congregation.

From the Youth Director

Hey everyone,

These past few weeks have been B-U-S-Y!  Spring is such a great time for new things and change!  For those of you that don’t know yet, I have been accepted into the Indiana University College of Optometry in Bloomington Indiana!  At this exciting time in my life, I just have one question: Hoosier Optometrist?  HA!  Just kidding!  I will be moving to Bloomington this summer, around the end of July.

This spring the Youth have done some great things for this Church.  I am most proud of the amazing job your kids did with the Easter Breakfast!  They all showed up bright eyed and bushy tailed early in the morning ready to serve!  And serve they did!  They churned out around 300 pieces of French Toast!  What a way to serve God on Easter Morning, not to mention raise some money for the Youth Group Funds!

We also held the Lenten Fair, which was also a great success for the younger members of FLC.  The kids had a blast, dyeing eggs, making Easter and Palm Sunday themed crafts, and even planting flowers!  Thank you to all those that helped and made these events possible.

The Youth and Sunday School season is coming to an end and it has been such a learning experience for me!  I never know what to expect from a Youth Event or Sunday morning.  As your kids get ready for the end of the school year, whether they are graduating from High School or getting ready for 2nd grade, there is one thing that they can do this summer to stay involved with FLC…VBS!

Vacation Bible School is set for July 11th – 15th from 9:00am12 noon at FLC.  The theme is “Keeping the Earth”.  It is for ages 3+ up until those entering 6th grade.  If you have a child older than this, we need many volunteer helpers to make an event like this happen!  Youth helpers are needed for many parts of VBS and it would be ideal to have the Youth Group as leaders for VBS!  Please have your child sign up where they are interested in helping in the Narthex.  Registration forms are also available there.

Another event in the works is a canoe trip with some of our fellow Lutheran Youth Groups around town!  More information on this later, but it will be around the end of July!

I hope the warm weather has everyone smiling and making plans.  Just don’t forget to include FLC in them!

Blessings and Peace,

Karisa Etter
